Netivot
What price would you put on an experience of a of a lifetime?
A 4-month trip to Israel, an opportunity to expand your religious, personal and intellectual horizons, extensive touring throughout the whole of Israel and the unique privilege of living the ultimate Bnei Akiva ideal while forming long lasting friendships and life-enduring memories.
So what price would you put on an experience of a lifetime?
This experience is Netivot and is truly priceless. Nowhere are the conditions more favourable to living the quintessential Bnei Akiva life of Torah Ve\'avodah than in Israel itself. Netivot presents an incomparable opportunity to Year 10 students form all over the country to spend 4 months learning in Israel. The boys learn at Yeshivat Kfar Haroeh and the girls have the benefit of spending their time at Ulpanat Kfar Pines. It is within this structure that our chevra (group) are able to integrate into a true Israeli lifestyle, not as outsiders but as integral parts of Israeli society.
The range of limudei kodesh (religious studies) feed the mind and together with the tiyulim (touring), nourishes the soul. Exploring the land of Israel transforms the program from a learning experience to a practical one. For there is no better way of creating a sincere understanding of what it means to be connected to Eretz Yisrael than by travelling through the expanse of the land and taking in its beauty and historical significance.
Coupled with the learning and the touring are the informal seminars given over by experienced educators, which allow the chevra to assimilate contemporary issues into their everyday understanding of Israel and the Jewish people.
The program never fails to produce a group of motivated and inspired individuals who return to Australia as dynamic leaders in their community. There is no doubt in the minds of those that have graduated from the programme and those who have felt its effect, that it truly is an experience of a lifetime.
Review: Jesse Schneider - Netivot 2006
Hi, my name is Jesse Schneider. I am currently in year 11 at Moriah College.
Last year (2006) I went on the four month "Netivot" program to Israel. Together
with participants from all over Australia we traveled Israel, exploring our
heritage and learning about our religion. Throughout the four months we were
based at a Yeshiva High school in Jerusalem, Netiv Meir, whilst the girls were
based at a similar institution, the Amana in Kfar Saba, here we made friends
with our Israeli peers and got a true taste of Israeli culture. When we weren't
at school we were on one of our fairly regular tiyulim around the country wither
by ourselves or with South Africans on Netivot's sister program "Kfar Haroeh".
These tiyulim involved a trip to the north, Eilat, a stint in TzaHaL on Gadna
and a week in Jerusalem as well as opening and closing seminars. These were all
so amazing it is impossible to choose a favorite. Truthfully, the four months I
spent in Israel were the best four months of my life and I would recommend
"Netivot" to everyone.
