Israel Programs - MTA

MTA

MTA is a one-year program that Bnei Akiva runs annually. The essence of the program is learning Torah in a serious, organized and supportive environment with a focus on personal growth as well as intention to become a leader in the respective communities upon the participant’s return.

The boys study in Yeshivat Har Etzion in Gush Etzion or Yeshivat Eretz Hatzvi in Jerualem. The girls study in Midreshet Harova in the Old City of Jerusalem or Machon Gold in Katamon. These institutions are amongst the finest of their kind in Israel.

Every few weeks the group is taken for a shabbaton at an exciting venue and joined by exceptional and experienced madrichim and Bogrim of the movement.

During the holiday period of the Yeshivot and the Midrashot, MTA makes the participants learning experience come alive through various educational activities such as Tanach based tiyullim, spending Shabbatot in different communities and in different historical places, working on kibbutz, volunteering in the army as well as informative and dynamic seminars essential to all young leaders on all aspects of Jewish identity and issues facing our nation today. These seminars are the highlight of the program. They compliment the knowledge gained from the Yeshivot and Midrasha studies, in an informal and well-structured educational program developing the confidence and strength of our young leaders, making them motivated and excited to lead Bnei Akiva and the community at large in the future.

MTA is considered as one of the most prestigious one-year leadership programs in Israel. It provides a stimulating and challenging environment, which facilitates growth, knowledge and inspiration for its participants. It is a well-balanced, structured and vibrant program that insures sound torah knowledge, strengthening of Jewish roots and identity as well as a clarification of direction for each participant.

Natalie Manne - MTA 2003

Hi, my name is Natalie, and this year I am a Yr 11 Madricha. I finished Moriah in 2002 and am currently studying Commerce / Science and UNSW. I spent last year in Israel on MTA. Most of the year was spent at a midrasha in the Old City of Yerushalyim. We had an incredible opportunity to learn with amazing Rabbanim and girls from all over the world. Each chofesh was spent in different places throughout Israel, doing different activities - including Kibbutz, tiyulim, Sarel and working with disadvantaged children. We were even fortunate enough to travel to Poland as a group with exceptional guides and holocaust survivors. My year on MTA was incredibly worthwhile, rewarding and a lot of fun. I cant imagine having spent my year any other way.

Barry Segel - MTA 2001

Hi! My names Barry Segel. I'm currently completing a Bachelor of Information Techonology, which I started in 2002. I graduated from Moriah College in 2000, and then went on the Bnei Akiva MTA program during 2001, before coming back to Sydney to start my degree. I\\\\\\\'ve been involved with Bnei Akiva as a madrich since I came back, and I can honestly say that my year on MTA was the most unbelievable experience of my life. That gap between school and university presents a unique opportunity to take a time out to learn about your history, your people, and most importantly about yourself. I absolutely loved learning in Yeshiva! Very rarely, throughout the rest of your life, will you get the chance to challenge and develop your mind like you do in Yeshiva. And it’s all fun! You are with your friends, charismatic Rabbi’s who you develop close relationships with, and heaps of Israelis. And throughout the year, Bnei Akiva is taking you out to explore all over Israel from Shabbats at the Kotel to camel riding in the Negev deserts to hikes in the Golan. You spend time o n kibbutzim and in the army. MTA is a year of unforgettable experiences. I believe it is the premiere program around. These chances do not come often in life. Only a mad man would pass up an opportunity like this!
